This summer I attended Fiber In The Forest along with some of my fiber friends, and several of us took a metal jewelry making class taught by the inspiring Mary Hettmansperger. Among other things, we learned how to make cold connections and torch patinas on copper.

Mary has a background in fiber work and basketry, and she brings a sew-and-weave-it-together vibe to the process. I could hardly wait to get back home and try more of the many things we learned in class!  I finished the copper patina and woven wire piece (above) in my studio.

I was entranced at the colorful copper torch patina! All of these pieces have the addition of embossing powder.

Here is a piece for my Tipp City class. One of the workshop options is to add a hand-forged copper pendant to the class tuition, and I have made up a bunch for class. Each one of a kind pendant comes with a copper colored wire choker.

I enjoyed coming up with fun origami inspired packaging, and I hope that my students will enjoy the uniqueness of their piece.

olivia and friendsI will have other copper jewelry for sale in my class store.

This year I am excited to have another Olive Rose folk art trunk show. I can’t wait to see what Olivia has cooked up for that!

It is always wonderful to have you stop by and take a look at what creative things I have been up to ~ Karen
